Griffin Glen Alpacas

"...also cute and fluffy!" - Stitch

Griffin Glen Alpacas is the realization of my lifelong desire to enjoy a rural lifestyle. I hadn't realized that alpacas were going to be integral to that dream until my fiancé saw a news special on alpacas and said, innocently enough, "You ought to look into those, they seem very you." Little did he realize...

Taking him at his word, I started researching alpacas. I had the good fortune to discover Paintbrush Farms in Ligonier, Indiana, about 3 hours away from my home in suburban Chicago. Clark and Kathy Bromley invited me for a farm visit, and after spending four hours talking with them and gleaning as much information as I could, I asked if I could maybe come visit when they were doing some more work with the alpacas, like trimming toenails and such. That began a wonderful friendship, and about once a month I was spending the weekend at their farm, helping out, learning about alpacas, and discovering that there was no way I wanted to raise livestock in a place where it snowed.

Griffin's Jasmine

Jasmine
born Sept. 24, 2003

We hadn't planned to purchase our first animals quite so soon - my fiancé had just been transferred to Dallas, and we didn't have any land as of yet - but that was when Miss Kiwi and Lil' Guy (aka Sully) made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Agistment is a wonderful thing! They are currently living happily at Paintbrush Farms while we look for acreage in the Dallas area. Our herd has grown to four and a half, with the birth of Basil in October of 2002, and Jasmine in September of 2003.
